Atherstone Town Centre - Inspection and test purchase

Officers from trading standards on Saturday again visited Atherstone and had a further test purchase of counterfit cigarettes.

As a result an inspection was then carried out at the store and found 134 packets of illegal cigarettes and 20 packets of hand rolling tobacco hidden in an old hide in the metal door.

The shop keeper and landlord will be dealt with for the offences by trading standards.

This store is a different premises to the shop in Atherstone High Street that has recently been forced to close to similar issues.

Officers will continue to address these concerns and will utilise powers to shut the shops with heavy fines for the operators.
